BRAC International is inviting applications for the position of Officer, Research and Learning, a role central to strengthening data-informed decision-making and enhancing organisational learning across its programmes in Kenya.
Positioned within the Learning and Effectiveness unit, this role will serve as the primary analytical resource responsible for transforming data and research outputs into meaningful insights that guide programme improvement and strategic direction.

Purpose of the Role at BRAC International
The position of Officer, Research and Learning will play a pivotal role in ensuring programme teams have access to high-quality data, well-synthesised evidence and clear learning products.
Working closely with monitoring teams, research partners and internal stakeholders, the officer will help align on-the-ground realities with organisational priorities and the broader mission of BRAC International.
This position is based in Nairobi and is open exclusively to Kenyan nationals.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?

Data Management & Analysis
- Clean, validate and document incoming datasets to ensure completeness and integrity.
- Conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative analyses using recognized methodologies and analytical frameworks.
- Produce dashboards, charts, graphs and other visual tools that communicate trends and support programme monitoring and strategic decision-making.
Reporting & Evidence Synthesis
- Prepare periodic internal reports highlighting key results, emerging trends and operational challenges.
- Translate complex datasets into practical, actionable insights for programme teams.
Research & Knowledge Management
- Carry out desk research and draft literature reviews on themes relevant to BRAC International’s portfolio, including youth empowerment, climate adaptation, gender transformation, sustainable livelihoods and early childhood development.
- Support organisational learning by contributing to documentation systems, maintaining knowledge repositories and developing learning products.
Safeguarding Commitments
The successful candidate will adhere to BRAC International’s safeguarding standards, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all programme participants and staff. Responsibilities include:
- Completing mandatory safeguarding training.
- Reporting safeguarding concerns through approved channels.
- Upholding principles of dignity, neutrality, confidentiality and respect when supporting survivors or participating in investigations.
Minimum Academic Qualifications
To quality for the position of Officer, Research and Learning, candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Public Policy, Data Science, Economics or a closely related field.
- Evidence of strong academic performance is an added advantage.
- Degrees from highly reputable institutions will be greatly considered.
Professional Experience Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following professional requirements:
- At least one year of practical experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, or data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse qualitative information using tools such as NVivo or Dedoose.
- Experience with quantitative analysis using Microsoft Excel and at least one statistical software (e.g., STATA or SPSS).
- Proven ability to design dashboards and develop data visualisations.
Skills and Competencies
All candidates must have certain skills and competencies to qualify for this role. Some of these include:
- Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and functions.
- Strong understanding of mixed-methods research and evaluation approaches.
- Competence with data-collection and visualisation platforms such as Kobo Toolbox, Qualtrics, Tableau or Power BI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convert technical information into clear, well-structured reports.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites (approximately 20% of the time).
