Visa-Free Countries for Nigerian Passport Holders

Obtaining a visa for many countries as a Nigerian seeking adventure, a new destination, or opportunities can be difficult. Fortunately, the Nigerian passport affords you the chance to visit several countries that are either visa-free for Nigerian passport holders or those that require a visa on arrival.

Many countries on the African continent, except for countries like Morocco, Algeria, Angola, and Eritrea, among others, grant Nigerians access based on the integrity of the Nigerian passport. Beyond these, there are other countries outside of the continent where you do not need a visa to visit.

Here are all the countries Nigerians can visit without a visa in 2025:

1. Barbados

  • Purpose: Tourism
  • Duration Allowed: 6 months

Located in the Caribbean, Barbados is a top tourist destination. With your Nigerian passport, the country allows entry for tourism purposes for a period of up to 6 months.

2. Cameroon

  • Purpose: Tourism and business
  • Duration Allowed: 90 Days

As a Nigerian, with just your international passport, you can simply buy a plane ticket and move to Cameroon, which is located in central Africa, for 90 days without needing a visa. This short stay is allowed for tourism and business purposes.

3. Chad

  • Purpose: Tourism and business
  • Duration Allowed: 90 Days

Another country in Central Africa that is open to the Nigerian passport for 90 days is Chad. Although it is not a top tourist destination, it is allowed for the purpose of tourism and business.

4. Dominica

  • Purpose: Tourism
  • Duration Allowed: 21 Days

If you want to take some time away to the Caribbean with your Nigerian passport, Dominica allows Nigerians to come over, although if you want to stay for more than 21 days, you will need to have a visa.

5. Fiji

  • Purpose: Tourism
  • Duration Allowed: 120 days

Fiji is a country in Oceania that makes a significant part of its revenue from tourism. As such, it is open to many countries, including Nigeria, to have their citizens without a visa on the grounds of tourism.

6. Haiti

  • Purpose: Tourism
  • Duration Allowed: 90 days

Haiti has a bilateral agreement with Nigeria, thanks to which, as a Nigerian, it is among the visa-free countries you can wake up and travel to. One of the main reasons why this Caribbean nation relaxes its entry rules is to boost its tourism potential by attracting international tourists.

7. Micronesia

  • Purpose: Tourism
  • Duration Allowed: 30 days

With close to 200 small islands, Micronesia is another great tourist destination, although it is not a very popular country. It also opens its borders to Nigerian passport holders without needing to have a visa for a short stay. The country is located in Oceania.

8. St. Kitts and Nevis

  • Purpose: Tourism
  • Duration Allowed: 90 days

Like many other countries in the Caribbean, St. Kitts and Nevis is a visa-free country for Nigerians looking for a great tourist destination. You are allowed to stay in this country for 90 days.

9. Vanuatu

  • Purpose: Tourism
  • Duration Allowed: 30 days

Vanuatu is a small country in the South Pacific Ocean with a population of less than 400,000 people. With close to 40 islands, the country is another visa-free nation where, as a Nigerian, you can gain entry simply by using your passport.

10. Montserrat

  • Purpose: Tourism
  • Duration Allowed: 180 days

Montserrat is a UK territory located in the Caribbean. It is a free-visa territory for Nigerians seeking tourism.

11. Kiribati

  • Purpose: Tourism
  • Duration Allowed: 90 days

Another visa-free Oceanic country for Nigerians is Kiribati. The island country, which has less than 15,000, allows Nigerians in for a short-term stay of up to 90 days, most especially for tourism purposes.

12. West African Countries

  • Purpose: West Africa (ECOWAS)
  • Duration Allowed: Unlimited

Nigeria, like all other countries in West Africa, has an agreement which was signed in 1976 known as the ECOWAS Protocol on Free Movement of Persons, Residences, and Establishment.

Thanks to this, all citizens of countries in the sub-region can travel to other countries in West Africa without needing a visa. All you need is an ECOWAS Passport or your international passport.

This means that as a Nigerian, you can go to the following countries visa-free:

  • Togo
  • Gambia (90 days)
  • Ghana (90 days)
  • Guinea
  • Guinea-Bissau
  • Niger Republic
  • Senegal
  • Sierra Leone
  • Burkina Faso
  • Cape Verde
  • Liberia
  • Mali
  • Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)

Apart from the above countries, where, as a Nigerian, you can visit even without a visa, there are many more where you will need an e-visa. An e-visa is a digital visa for which the process of applying and obtaining is done online, without you having to visit the country’s embassy.

To get an e-visa, you will fill out a form online, submit all required documents, and make all necessary payments. The processing time depends on the country, but once it is done and approved, a visa will be sent to you via email.

The favor you will do to yourself is to check the visa requirements for the country you are applying for before doing so.
